My life has been colourful and varied, I have been writing for my own pleasure for many of my years. Never had anything published, as I did not know how to get started. This book has been over 10 years in the making, a fiction that took initially 4 weeks to get into the computer and the rest of the time spent in moving countries, refining points and fixing grammar. It is a work of pure fiction, meant to entertain, it does not have gory scenes, or graphic love sections. It is a gentle book meant to take the reader away from the humdrum, and possibly believe that miracles can happen.

This will enable precise tracking of flights and more efficient management of traffic by allowing pilots and controllers to collaborate on flight trajectories and calculate the shortest available routes, cruise at optimum altitudes, and use continuous climb and descent pathways to reduce delays, save fuel and address environmental factors.
For this reason, we are pleased to be involved in this ambitious and agenda-setting programme along with other major ANSPs. Iris is fundamental to the future of aviation and with the support of a growing allegiance of ANSPs and European partners, the programme will revolutionise air traffic management and enable secure, high bandwidth datalink communications over Europe.

Details the paradigms of opportunistic spectrum sharing and white space access as effective means to satisfy increasing demand for high-speed wireless communication and for novel wireless communication applications This book addresses opportunistic spectrum sharing and white space access, being particularly mindful of practical considerations and solutions. In Part I, spectrum sharing implementation issues are considered in terms of hardware platforms and software architectures for realization of flexible and spectrally agile transceivers. Part II addresses practical mechanisms supporting spectrum sharing, including spectrum sensing for opportunistic spectrum access, machine learning and decision making capabilities, aggregation of spectrum opportunities, and spectrally-agile radio waveforms. Part III presents the ongoing work on policy and regulation for efficient and reliable spectrum sharing, including major recent steps forward in TV White Space TVWS regulation and associated geolocation database approaches, policy management aspects, and novel licensing schemes supporting spectrum sharing.

September 20, Delivering the most detailed images of the sun's lower atmosphere ever recorded from space, the Interface Region Imaging Spectrograph IRIS , built and operated by Lockheed Martin for NASA, has received more time to deliver groundbreaking space science. Scientists at NASA, Lockheed Martin and other institutions around the world have used IRIS to make exciting discoveries about what causes the heating of the solar atmosphere and how solar flares are triggered and release magnetic energy. The observatory views only a small part of the sun at any time, but through careful planning by the IRIS science planning team, IRIS was able to catch nine of the largest flares X-class and almost of the second largest class of flares M-class and numerous weaker C-class flares. NASA continues to fund several solar science programs designed, built and operated by Lockheed Martin. The ATC also has experience building instruments to study the Earth, a lineage that includes the Earth's new "selfie" camera, EPIC, and newer concepts to study carbon levels and other environmental phenomena. The IRIS program will now move into a period studying the tail end of the solar activity cycle, which just went through a period of maximum activity. Some of the largest flares and most powerful coronal mass ejections occur during this phase of the solar cycle. In the next few years IRIS will also focus on: Using IRIS observations for more specific computer models that reveal what heats the sun's chromosphere, a layer of the Sun's atmosphere that is responsible for most of the ultraviolet light that we receive on Earth. The first solar observing campaigns newly approved for the large, international radio-telescope in Chile called ALMA.
Joint initiative will bring data link communications to the 21 st century, resulting in optimised airspace and airport capacity, plus reduction in flight times, aircraft fuel burn and CO 2 emissions. The programme will focus on using advanced satellite technology to improve aeronautical data link services, enabling flight plans to be updated continuously, even while aircraft are on route to their destination. This will lead to the significant optimisation of European airspace and airport capacity, in addition to overall reductions in flight times, fuel burn and CO 2 emissions. Iris Service Evolution supports the Single European Skies ATM Research SESAR masterplan for the next-generation of air traffic management, which offers a high-level view of the critical developments that are required to deliver a high-performing aviation system for Europe.
Neutelings Riedijk Architects and Iris van Herpen have wrapped the Naturalis Biodiversity Center in over metres of delicate concrete friezes that merge fossil forms with the fabric of the designer's collections. The extension to the existing Fons Verheijen-designed museum, which was completed in , includes five floors of gallery space to display items from the Naturalis Biodiversity Center's collection of forty-two million objects. As part of the project, Neutelings Riedijk Architects has also refurbished the existing building, which now also contains office space and storage facilities. The new building consists of two distinct elements — a stack of four offset rectangular blocks and a metre-high atrium. Each of the orange stone blocks, which contain the museum's nine galleries, is wrapped in a frieze designed by Van Herpen that combines couture fashion with rock formations and fossils. Van Herpen "especially fell in love" with the 42 million pieces in the Naturalis' fossil collection. The galleries are connected to the existing building by the atrium, which acts as the public entrance space for the museum and contains a large staircase that provides access to the exhibitions. This light-filled space is constructed from numerous prefabricated concrete elements that create a distinctive pattern of hexagons and overlapping circles. Although the project is Van Herpen's first large-scale architectural commission, she sees a lot of similarities between the creation of fashion and buildings. Its Rozet cultural centre in Arnhem was named the Netherlands best building in

Iris aims to make aviation safer, greener and more efficient by developing a new satellite-based air—ground communication system for Air Traffic Management ATM , in partnership with Inmarsat. Currently, aircraft are tracked by radar when over land and in coastal areas, and pilots communicate with Air Traffic Control ATC by voice, over radio frequency. Delays and cancellations are already common due to congested air traffic, causing frequent bottlenecks at airports. If this trend continues, ATC will need to contend with more and more aircraft but with no more capacity to communicate with them, resulting in aircraft needing to circle airports, remain grounded and take longer routes as they wait to communicate with ATC. Iris will relieve pressure on these terrestrial channels by supplementing them with digital text for position reports, clearances and runway conditions, sent and received between pilots and ATC by satellites to terminals in the cockpit and the flight control facility.

Clients Driving Innovation brings together an international group of researchers and practitioners to investigate the role of clients in construction innovation. Written in three parts, it covers the context for innovation driven by clients, the client impact on the innovation process and how new ideas can be pushed through into practice. Numerous case studies illustrate the role clients can play and the key issues that need to be addressed.
