Collected data is also being used for remote diagnostics, and that concerns farmers like Mills. Technicians make up 25 percent of its staff, so the right to repair is critical to their operation.

In a majority of cases, troubleshooting is done the conventional way—by opening up a machine, building a test fixture, and conducting the repair. Radwell stocks parts to tackle most repairs, but increasingly, parts have to be purchased directly from the original equipment manufacturer.
